Young Sherlock Holmes, 1985

Because of this movie, I expect every incarnation of Sherlock Holmes to be absolute pants at the violin.

Sherlock Waking Up in The Morgue

geregwyxbwsrzgrtkgk gw

When Sherlock wakes — and isn’t that a surprise and a half? — it’s to a pounding, buzzing headache that slams up against his eyes like the smash of a sidewalk against an occipital bone. There’s something wet and tacky smeared across his face and something else clumped awkwardly in his left ear. All of this, of course, is entirely secondary to the fact that he is inside a body bag.

Lungs forced to a semblance of slow breaths, despite the flashes of long hours locked in a cupboard when Nanny got tired of one too many questions, too many dead animals saved for careful observation in shoe boxes at the back of his wardrobe, Sherlock fumbles in the black plastic darkness, pulling the zip down awkwardly until he can hook his fingers around from the inside and yank. The bag parts like the Red Sea, and Sherlock sits, panting, on the table in the morgue. He’s surprised, yet hysterically grateful, that Molly hasn’t wheeled him into the cooler yet, and takes a few minutes to pull the blood-matted hair out of his ear enough to hear the click-clack of kitten heels coming down the hall.

His headache reaches a crescendo as he sits there, unable to think past the pain and confusion of being alive when he’s not supposed to be. And then the door swings open and there’s Molly. Sweet, dependable, always so awkward Molly. Molly who is supposed to be watching over John, as Sherlock begged of her. Molly, who doesn’t look in the least put out that there’s a corpse having a panic attack on her autopsy table.

“Well then,” she says, tossing a plastic bag of clothes at his lap. “Get changed.”

“What?” It’s an achingly stupid rejoinder, but this once he can be forgiven. And at the very least his headache is fading.

Molly rolls her eyes and tugs the zip down the rest of the way. “Since you’ve never been good at anything resembling patience, let’s start with the punchline, shall we?” She doesn’t pause long enough for him to answer, but it’s clear that she’s not really interested in anything he has to say. “Welcome to the Game, Mr. Holmes. There’s only one rule you have to remember: there can be only one.”

I still don’t understand how casual everyone else was about this. It’s 1891 England. I assume men can’t dance like that with other men in 1891. Homosexuality is still a capital crime

I figure all the ambassadors looked at them with their bruises and cuts and bandages, and decided not to pick a fight with the terrifying gay cage-fighters.

Time for the next round of Fandom Tea Blends Giveaways! This week’s tea blend was hard to pick, but I just couldn’t resist doing Sherlock’s any longer *w*! Read below for more reviews/information on the tea, and how to win your own bag of it, as well as an ingenuiTEA tea pot!

THE SHERLOCK BLEND: All at once exotic and mysterious and perhaps a little bit insane, with a lingering hint of smoke. (lapsang souchong, assam melody, oriental spice)

MY REVIEW OF IT: “It smells amazing. I wanted to stick my whole head in the bag. I was actually afraid I had overdone it with the Oriental Spice tea since that’s pretty much all I could smell in the bag. However, once I brewed it, BAM! So smokey. Definitely a very smokey tea, but not nearly as strong as a Lapsang by itself, and once the smokey taste fades you really start to taste the spice again. It’s awesome. I tried it first without adding anything, but there are very few teas I can drink plain. I added a splash of milk and a spoonful of sugar and it was perfect *w*”

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

  • “Dark, smoky, and spicy is the best way to describe this tea. It smells extremely smoky in the bag (almost reminiscent of barbecue sauce), but it mellows out a bit when steeped. You can definitely taste the smoke, but it is balanced nicely by the spice.”-Michelle T.
  • Best of these blends I’ve tried so far. If there’s one tea that can stand up to a spices, Lapsang Souchong is probably it. The assam melody likely bolsters it as well, and seems to have helped with what usually throws off people I try to introduce to Lapsang: they smell it, and it reminds them of barbecue sauce—not a problem with this blend. It’s perfect: dark, smooth, smoky, and all of those other lovely things, with not-overpowering spice. Perfection.”-Katrina W.
  • ” This is actually a really warming blend, in my opinion. The smokey aroma reminds me of a dimly lit room and a cigar or cigarette and the warm and spicy flavor soothe me to my core.”-Alicia B.
  • Dark, spicy and sensually smoky. I was hesitant at first, but after a spoonful of sugar, I melted right in.”-Abigail L.
  • It’s difficult to describe. A hint of…danger? I sound silly, but it really is an intriguing blend. Like you have to drink more to figure it out. All in all, a perfect blend for Sherlock.“-Kayla B.
HOW TO WIN:
  • You may reblog this post ONCE a day for the next week. I’ll go through the notes and use a random number generator to chose a winner the evening of APRIL 14th
